Stephen was born in Danbury, March 16, 1938, son of the late Eugene C. and Helen (Fesh) McNamara. He was a lifetime Danbury resident and after graduating from Danbury High School, class of 1955, he served in the U.S. Navy. His first year in the Navy was served on a base in Massachusetts and the following two years were served on the USS AO 147 Truckee out of Norfolk, Va. In 1959 after his Military service, he then joined in the family business known then as "Mac's Halfway Restaurant" and is now known as "Mac's Halfway Cafe," located at 30 South St. in Danbury.
Stephen is survived by three children: two sons: Stephen P. McNamara Jr. of Milford, N.H. and Craig E. McNamara of Danbury; a daughter, Robin A. Miller and husband, Jeffrey of Danbury; the mother of his children and long time companion, Janice G. (Hill) McNamara of Danbury; his grandchildren: Matthew, Sara and Grace McNamara, Paige and Dawson Miller and four step-grandchildren: Kymberly, Kristen, Scott and Lisa Miller, his brother, Dr. Eugene McNamara and his wife, Ann of Danbury and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Danbury. Burial will take place in Wooster Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury.
