Edward George Gulla


Edward George Gulla died Tuesday, March 24, 2009 after a long battle with cancer and Alzheimer's in San Bruno, Calif. He was born June 29, 1937 in Danbury, to the late Helen and George Gulla. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Yvonne Gulla; his stepson, Douglas Ebert; and two grandsons. He was one of 11 children and is survived by brothers, Robert of Virginia, Emil Ronald of Danbury and the late David Gulla; sisters, Marjorie Lewis and Jean Holmes of Newtown, Barbara Vidal of Bridgewater, Mary Cormier, Elizabeth Clark, Susan Zilinek, all of Danbury, Emily Gulla of California; and numerous nieces and nephews. He graduated from Danbury High School, Class of 1955 and from Western Connecticut University in 1960. Prior to moving to California in 1962, he taught math and science in junior high school and served in the Army Reserve. In California, he was employed as a computer operator and in business services at the Bank of America for many years. He was an avid golfer and won many trophies while at the Bank of America. He also won trophies in San Francisco golf tournaments. A memorial service will be held at Calvary Lutheran Church in Millbrae, California at 11:30 a.m., April 18, 2009.
