July 13, 2004. He was born in Danbury, January 14, 1937, son of the late Anthony and Josephine (Rotello) Merante. Tony grew up in Danbury , was a lifetime Danbury resident and taught for more than 25 years in the Danbury public school system at Park Avenue school. He graduated from Danbury High School in the class of 1955, and was a graduate of Western Connecticut State University, and had received his master's degree and sixth year degree from Fairfield University. Following his retirement, Tony worked with the family real estate management company. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, Felix Merante and his wife Tina, of Danbury; a niece Maria Merante, of Jay,N.Y.; a nephew Mark Merante, of Boston,Mass.; an uncle Louis Rotello and his wife Chris, of Danbury, and several cousins. A memorial service will be held at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury on Saturday afternoon.
