| Jacqueline Mary Simoes Unger, 79, of
Danbury, CT passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017
in her home on Meadowbrook Rd.
In her profession as a Registered Nurse at Danbury Hospital, she was a union representative and was known as a "nurses nurse," the ultimate compliment. She was in the employ of Danbury Hospital for thirty plus years. As a young married woman, Jackie participated in various community activities and in particular served in the Junior Service League of Danbury. Jackie lived her whole life in Danbury, making her first impression on the city by being the only baby born in Danbury on January 1st, 1938 to Manuel and Rose Simoes.
She is survived by her children: Mark Piskura; Jill Piskura-Blankschen and her spouse, Michael Blankschen; Michelle Hoffman. Her grandchildren: Mark Piskura II and his spouse, Brigitte Piskura; Jacleen Goff and her spouse CJ Goff; Daniel Piskura; Matthew Hoffman; Caleb Hoffman; Riannon Hoffman. Her great grandchildren, Mark Piskura III; Desmond Piskura; Michael Mora; Joziah Goff. Her siblings: Sandy Werdann and her husband, Richard Werdann; Robert Simoes and his life partner, Eileen Patton.
The family would like to extend their special thanks to Elizabeth Orango for her boundless patients, compassion and commitment to providing Jackie outstanding care over the last 5 years.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017 at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury.
