Aug. 27, 1937 - Sept. 24, 2017
Connie was the oldest of five children born to the late Ruth and Warner Genest. After graduation she married her high school sweetheart, Jack Frost, and embarked on an adventurous cross country move to Colorado. By the time they moved back east the family included three young boys and Connie's career of being a dedicated, strong, innovative, and loving mother was well underway. Before long they grew to a family of seven with four sons and to her delight, a daughter. They moved to a rambling old farmhouse on one hundred acres in East Dorset, Vermont and life on the farm included cows, sheep, pigs, goats, chickens, gardens and more. As the kids began ski racing, Connie's efforts included gate keeping, timing, and recording race scores.
After divorce Connie lived in Connecticut before establishing a warm and inviting home that she shared with friends and family in Venice, Florida. Here she pursued her talents and entrepreneurial spirit. Cooking was one of Connie's many talents; she loved cooking up a storm for large family gatherings and her carrot cake is legendary! Another of Connie's passions was rug hooking and she established a close-knit group of hooking friends in Vermont and Florida. The home she and Walt shared together, and those of her family and friends, are enriched by her beautifully executed and colorful creations. The last five years of Connie's life have been some of the happiest. She and Walt were wonderful companions and enjoyed traveling together to Alaska, many western National Parks, and spent summers visiting Vermont and Minnesota. Connie is survived by her loving partner Walt Walchle, his son Matt, her five children and their spouses: David & Barbara Frost, Daniel Frost, Michael & Karen Frost, Robert & Anne Frost, and Heidi Frost & Ed Torres; her sister Judy Stevens and husband Bones; her brothers Mark Genest, and John and Virginia Genest, 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother Peter.
A celebration of her life will be held Friday, September 29 at 3 to 5 pm with services at 3:30 pm in Mary's Chapel at Historic Spanish Point, 337 N Tamiami Trail, Osprey, FL. Internment will be at Plymouth Notch Cemetery in Plymouth, VT in October. Toale Brothers Ewing Chapel is in charge of arrangements
