He was born July 5, 1937, and was the son of the late Samuel and Ann Pugliano Benso. His wife Kathleen "Kay" Benso passed away in 1998, and Al will now join her. Mr. Benso was born and raised in Danbury, and was educated in Danbury High School, graduating in the class of 1955, and San Jose City College. Al was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served from 1957, until his honorable discharge in 1963.He received the Good Conduct Medal. He moved to the Capital District in 1964. with short tours in San Jose City Calif., and York,Pa. Clifton Park has been the principal residence of the Benso family since 1976. Al worked for G.E., in Niskayuna for twenty five years as a contract administrator, and retired from Lockheed Martin, where he was employed as a contract manager. He was a member of both, KOTCATS, and The Elfun Society. Al enjoyed volunteering and was active with both the Clifton Park Senior Center and the Saratoga Home Delivered Meals Program. He was the founder of The Clifton Park Chapter of the Romeo Club. Mr. Benso is survived by his beloved son, Michael and his wife Kathleen, of Murrieta,Calif.; Mrs. Paul (Pamela) Megan, of Clifton Park; Mrs. Scott (Margaret "Peggy") Collins, of Ballston Lake; a brother, Ralph Benso, of Annapolis,Md.; grandchildren, Kevin Kennedy, John Scott Collins. Kathleen Collins, Sarah Collins, and several nieces and nephews. Two siblings, Emil Benso, and Ellen Marshall, predeceased Al. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Route 9, Clifton Park,N.Y. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, 8:15 a.m. at the funeral home, and then to St. Edward The Confessor Church,where at 9 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery,Waterford.
