Bert was born August 3, 1937, a daughter of Richard and Angela (Borges) Kalil. A lifetime Danbury resident, she attended Danbury schools and graduated from Danbury High School in the class of 1955. In 1968, Mrs. Tahan began a career of paraprofessional in the Danbury School System. During the 31 years she held positions at the Mill Ridge School and later at the new Mill Ridge Primary School. Active in her community of faith, St. Anthony's Maronite Catholic Church of Danbury, Mrs. Tahan was a reader, choir member, a former religious education instructor, a past member of the parish council where she served as past secretary and past president, a member of the Ladies Guild, a past president, vice-president and secretary. She served as a delegate to the National Apostolate of the Maronite National Convention. In recognition of her involvement to the Maronite Church, Mrs. Tahan was a recipient of the Massabki Brothers Defenders of the Faith Medal awarded by the National Apostolate of Maronites, and the Diocese of St. Maron, Brooklyn,N.Y. She was a member of the Danbury Paraprofessional Association. In addition to her sister and brother-in-law of Danbury, she is survived by a son, Thomas Tahan and his wife Teresa of Danbury, a daughter Linda. J. Tahan-Stein and her husband Frank of Bethel, a granddaughter Venessa Tahan of Danbury, a grandson James Goncalves of Sommerville,Mass., an aunt Alice Zall of Trumball, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A brother, Roy D. Kalil predeceased her. The liturgy of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 a.m., in St. Anthony's Maronite Church, 17 Granville Avenue, Danbury, with the Rev. Larry Jensen officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery,Danbury. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 3 to 6 p.m. at St. Anthony's Church, Danbury.
