Francis C. Bacon

Francis C. Bacon, 85, of Brookfield, CT passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on January 29, 2023 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Francis was born on July 23, 1937 to the late Francis C. Bacon and Marguerite Smith Bacon in Danbury, CT. After graduating from Danbury High School in 1955, Francis briefly pursued an engineering degree from Western Connecticut State College while working in the family water well and pump business. In 1977 he earned a bachelor's degree in business, also from Western.
While at Western, Francis met his wife of 60 years, Roberta Jean Dowrie, and they were married in December 1957. In 1962 Francis built a home where he and Roberta raised four children, Cathy, Phillip, Evelyn, and Claire.
Francis and his brother John worked in the family water well and pump business together for many years. Francis also obtained his real estate license and worked with a real estate developer in addition to selling real estate independently. Francis continued to run the artesian well pump business after John left to work for Mitchell Fuel, and he continued to repair well pumps after retiring and up until his passing. When he wasn't working, Francis enjoyed reading, bowling and socializing with friends at one of the local diners, many of whom he'd known for much of his life.
Francis was predeceased by his wife Roberta, and his sister Patricia Tomascak. He is survived by his four children, his brother John, his sister Margo, his daughter-in-law Caroline, his grandson Daniel and his nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life memorial event will be held at the Gallo Family Restaurant in Danbury, CT on Saturday, March 25th at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in honor of Francis to the Wounded Warrior Project.
